Today I uploaded to youtube a really nice morote seoi nage you can do when you are fighting a stronger opponent who likes to pull you in close and push your head down. Both of these videos are taken from my friends Lightweight Judo DVD download available at www.lightweightjudo.com.
This first one is when you are fighting a lefty who is trying to pull your head down. It plays up the idea that they want to crush you down. What Mohan does is create space to drop into his morote seoi nage. Note how low he gets with the seoi nage as well as the sneaky way he creates space to drop under.
The next video we have is a right ouchi gari into left seoi nage. This works because when your opponent steps off the first ouchi they are in a perfect position to be throw with a left seoi. It is important in this variation to be in the control of the sleeve, if you aren’t then you won’t be abel to enter for the left seoi because your opponent will shut you out.
Lastly we have a super smooth deashi into seoi nage:
