As well as the stuff mentioned in the video above other rules include:

– covering all cuts with tape

– clean your own blood off the mat

– DON’T come to training if you’re sick

– DON’t come to training if you feel “under the weather”

– Don’t watch your sensei teach and then go off and teach a different technique all together

– Don’t talk while your sensei is speaking

– Be respectful of everyone on the mat, not just belts ranked higher than you

– Don’t challenge the blackbelt to a fight on your first lesson, no-one needs to prove themselves

– DON’T come to training when you are sick (yes I said it twice)

– Turn up to training on time

– If you want to leave the mat ask your sensei

– If you want to get a drink ask your sensei

– If you need a toilet break, ask your sensei (and you better wash your hands after the toilet AND wear shoes to and from the toilet)

– Wash your gi after every practice

– Don’t counter every move your opponent does on you with “but it won’t work if I do this,”

– cut your toe and finger nails
